Vitamin D belongs to the group of fat-soluble vitamins. Among vitamins, it holds a special position as it can be synthesized in the skin with the help of UV-B rays from sunlight. Especially during the autumn and winter months, sunlight exposure in our latitudes is not sufficient to ensure adequate supply. Age, skin type, frequent indoor stays, or the use of sunscreen can further limit endogenous production. Additionally, vitamin D can only be stored in the body to a limited extent. Vitamin D contributes to normal absorption and utilization of calcium and phosphorus and to normal calcium levels in the blood. It therefore supports the maintenance of normal bone structure, normal teeth (mineralization), and normal muscle function. Furthermore, vitamin D is essential for the normal growth and development of bones in children and helps reduce the risk of falling, which is associated with postural instability and muscle weakness. Falls are a risk factor for bone fractures in men and women aged 60 and over. Vitamin D plays a role in the process of cell division and contributes to the normal function of the immune system, including in children. Vitamin D3 1000 I.U. contains vitamin D in the form of cholecalciferol (D3), a particularly bioavailable compound.
Application areas:
Adults: Take 1 drop daily with a meal.
